Beginning Rainforest Backcountry

Experience true rainforest in a short 3hr backcountry trip into Santa Fe National Park.

We start on on a rough footpath through undeveloped areas of Santa Fe National Park, and loop down to do a short river scramble for part of the journey, seeing a waterfall and journeying back again with a naturalist guide.

This is a great for active people of all ages old enough and mobile enough to hike (though not good for children in carriers). But there will be challenges. Terrain is uneven and participants will be walking through mud, along rivers and climbing over trees that are down. We walk at a slow – normal pace to better spot animals (amphibians & insects) or tracks. Total hiking time is about 1.5 hours, and total trip is about 3 hours, depending on participant speed.
